Sejarahnya bermula apabila surat dalam berbentuk artifak itu dibuat oleh seorang pendeta tinggi (High Priest ) bangsa Sumeria bernama Inanna yang ditujukan kepada Raja yang juga suami pada malam pernikahan mereka.Sudah menjadi tradisi bangsa Sumeria bahawa pada ketika malam pernikahan si isteri akan membuat puisi cinta untuk si suami.
