Baru sahaja tadi jam 8 malam aku tengok berita TV3 dimana Sultan Iskandar masuk hospital.Terbaru aku baca dekat Bernama.com baginda telah pun disahkan mangkat di Hospital Puteri Johor Baharu.
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 22 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Iskandar who died on Friday at the age of 77, was a Ruler who was firm but fair and always wanted the best for his subjects to the extent that Johor emerged as one of the most developed states in the country.
Proclaimed as the Sultan of Johor on May 11, 1981, Sultan Iskandar died at 7.15pm at the Puteri Specialist Hospital in Johor Baharu. This was announced by Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman.
He is survived by Sultanah Johor Sultanah Zanariah and two sons and eight daughters namely Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ibrahim Ismail, Tunku Puteri Johor Tunku Hajah Kamariah, Tunku Besar Tunku Zabedah Aminah, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah, Tunku Hajah Mariam Zahrah, Tunku Norani, Tunku Maimunah Ismailiah, Tunku Bendahara Johor Tunku Abdul Majid Idris Ismail, Paduka Puteri Tunku Muna Najiah and Tunku Aminah Kalsom Masera Marian Zahirah.
During his reign, Sultan Iskandar was loved by all strata of society in Johor for his endless guidance and concern for his subjects.
He was not only wise in matters concerning religion and administration, but also in other fields such as the military, sports and business.
In his speeches, he had always reminded his subjects to adopt the spirit of consensus, to be united and to work diligently to ensure prosperity for the state.
He was conferred the honorary Doctorate in Law by The National University of Singapore (NUS) on April 12, 2007 in recognition of his role in the progress and prosperity of the state and his contribution towards bilateral relations between Malaysia and Singapore.
